Warts & Verrucas

The term wart is the simple name for small rough tumours on the skin (normally hands or feet) that look like solid blisters; the clinical name is verrucae. Warts are viral and spread through the Human Papilloma virus, or HPV, and can be spread through human contact, or towels or other objects the infected person has used. Warts normally only last a few months but some can persist for years or longer and thus people seek a permanent means of removal.

Other skin conditions that are often classified as warts include moles, beauty spots and skin tags. These are not actual warts in the clinical sense, and are not viral or spread through contact; however similar methods of removal are usually used.
