Skin Pigmentation

The colouring of a person’s skin is determined by the level of melanin they have, which is in turn governed by their sex and parent’s ethnicity (Males tend to have more melanin than females).

Melasma, Solar Lentigo and Vitiligo are all skin conditions caused by sun exposure. Both Melasma, dark spots on the face neck and arms, and Solar Lentigo, age spots and liver spots are common skin pigmentation conditions, whereas Vitiligo, light spots on the skin, is rare in comparison.

These can all be treated using cosmetic procedures including face peels, microdermabrasion, laser treatments and collagen induction therapy, as well as some cosmetic skin products.
