Acne Scarring
Acne Scarring is the result of severe active acne that has been left untreated; this scarring can vary in its severity. The two types of scarring that can occur are referred to as atrophic and hypertrophic.
Atrophic scarring can include depressed fibrotic scars, atrophic macules, follicular macular atrophy and other scars; atrophic scarring is due the loss of tissue in the area. Hypertrophic scarring is the opposite and is due to growth of tissue in the afflicted area.
Treatments for Acne scarring can include microdermabrasion, face peels, laser treatments and collagen induction therapy.
