Acne Treatment
Acne is a condition that affects people worldwide. It is most common in adolescence, or puberty and affects about 85% of teenagers, however it can continue into adulthood. Acne typically affects the face and neck the most, but areas such as the shoulders and back can also develop with the affliction. Severe facial acne can be very distressing and traumatising; especially if it persists into adulthood (mainly as it is more accepted in teen years and considered a normal part of maturing)
One of the most effective means of treating Acne is through the use of laser surgery. This laser energy is directed through the skin and used to trigger the bodies’ natural bacteria defences, which in turn eliminates the bacteria that are instigating the outbreak of acne; this also helps curtail further occurrences as well.
A treatment session will last approximately an hour. Treatments will be spread over a few weeks with normally 1 or 2 sessions per week, though this can vary. Results can also vary depending on the severity of the condition and the person treated, with some people’s results exceeding what they expected. The process itself is relatively painless and only minimal discomfort is felt, if any. As with all laser treatments sunscreen is recommended for a few days, though makeup and cosmetics can be applied immediately.
